Frequently asked questions.

Are the shells that John uses real?

Yes, they are real and are responsibly sourced from shell dealers all over the pacific.

Is the jewellery handmade?

Yes, they are all hand made by the artist himself John Hablitschek

What is the process that john uses to apply the silver and gold?

John developed a technique and a process of using electroforming. This was a custom-made electroforming process that was made for John which was developed over years. John also developed his own technique and process for the fittings which as you can see the fitting conforms seamlessly with the shell or stone. No other metals are used in the process.

All the jewellery is prepared by hand before applying the silver or gold.

Why has John stopped making the jewellery?

John has said himself “I’m 87… but age is not the barrier, it’s the materials I need to do the process” John needs a certain chemistry for the electroforming process which has been too difficult or impossible to source. Yes, the process of plating or electroforming is a fairly simple concept however the technique and chemistry mixtures have to spot on for the process to work. especially with fine gold and fine Silver.
