🌿 About John Hablitschek

For more than six decades, John Hablitschek has lived a life shaped by creativity, craftsmanship, and a deep connection to natural materials. His artistic roots run centuries deep — he comes from a family of artists tracing back to the 17th century. Born in Italy and later settling in Australia, John began his career in furniture making and general carpentry before studying part time, interior design, and sculpture at East Sydney Technical College. Those early foundations shaped the fluid, organic style that would define his work for decades.

By the early 60s, John was already working as a Part‑time artist, creating everything from enameled sculpture to murals and eventually the jewelry that would earn him a global following. From the late 70s he became a full-time artist. In the 1980s, he pioneered his own approach to electroforming in silver and gold, developing a technique that allowed metal to grow around natural forms in soft, sculptural lines — a process entirely unique to him. His creations have reached clients all over the world, including gemstone tables made for the British Royal Family in the early 70s.

When the materials required for electroforming disappeared in 2020, John’s jewelry practice entered its final chapter. The pieces available today represent the last of his electroformed work, a finite collection that can never be recreated.

Though he no longer produces jewelry, John continues to create through painting and sculpture, expanding the same artistic language he has carried throughout his life. He has also crafted a small series of gemstone tables, which will soon be available here.

John’s work has always been guided by nature, intuition, and a lifetime of exploration — a body of art that feels alive, personal, and unmistakably his.
